I first became interested in media whilst in 6th form, but after failing quite spectacularly and achieving a U in my first year, I made the decision to leave to attend a college course in which I could focus all my time solely on media production. This turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life and finished the course after 2 years with a distinction and a place on the media production course at LJMU.
Throughout my time in college I was given many great opportunities, such as being chosen by CH4 to come down to London and speak to a variety of people about career choices and how to go about fulfilling goals and ambitions. As well as this, I created a range of short pieces of media which included a documentary, music video and an advertisment for a local area.
My main focus and interest is on producing, filming and editing either documentaries and/or music videos. I find this challenging and exciting as I love to watch an idea come together slowly, and ending up with a finished product which I have helped to create and being able to admire the final product.
Starting my first year at LJMU, I was eager and ready to learn how to enhance my knowledge and skills already gained from college. Knowing that I would be given the chance to go out and produce another documentary and other short media pieces was exciting to me and I was ready to start. With a team of other students, we created a short visual story with a soundtrack, a documentary on saving lives, which included the North West Ambulance Service and Hoylake RNLI as well as a short informative piece on Davy Jones which are a special effects make-up and FX workshop in Liverpool. I was incredibly proud of the work which we produced and was looking forward to second year.
During the summer 2011, I was approached by Help For Heros who asked me to participate in filming a challenge in which they will be walking across Death Valley in America during the summer in 2013. Once filming is complete, I will then be editing and putting together a 2 hour documentary in the hope of raising money for the charity. I begin the filming process in January 2012 and can't wait to start.
